What is this Journey to Apostolic Renewal?

In Romans 12 it says: “For as in one body we have many parts, and all the parts do not have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ and individually parts of one another.”

In 1 Kings it says: “I now do as you request. I give you a heart so wise and discerning that there has never been anyone like you until now, nor after you will there be anyone to equal you.”

Indeed, each of us is made for a unique purpose.

When we pray the “Our Father”, we implore the Father to reveal this purpose.  In this month, discerning what “Thy Will Be Done” means for us should come into clearer focus.  The goal for this “Renewal” is to set aside intentional time with our precious Lord to reflect and listen so he may reveal that WILL, that MISSION, to us.

The journey begins with a baseline of your apostolic life today.  You may be on a solid path, firmly placed where the Lord wants you.  Others may be seeking that first step.  Either way, this time will bear fruit, for anytime we focus our attention on God we come away on a better path.

Secondly,  you will spend time reflecting on the uniqueness of you.  What are my gifts? Charisms? Strengths? Take the assessments if you have not done so. Each day spend time with God unwrapping these gifts and giving thanks.  Consider how these talents are being put to use in fulfillment of your mission.

Next, armed with your gifts, you will reflect on the call of Our Lord.  What are the ways he calls us each day to “Follow Him”.

Then finally you will “Follow Him” into scripture.  Using the method of Lectio Divina, divine reading; supported by a short audio meditation each day, you can reflect on your role in His Divine Plan.

Pope Francis in his Gaudete et Exsultate said ““A Christian cannot think of his or her mission on earth without seeing it as a path of holiness... Each saint is a mission, planned by the Father to reflect and embody, at a specific moment in history, a certain aspect of the Gospel.”  Do you find yourself in these moments? Some more than others, of course!

To close out this renewal, if you have an opportunity to meet a spiritual guide or apostolic mentor, take all revelations with you to reinforce the direction and path unfolding before you.  Then, document or renew your Apostolic mission statement, your covenant to the mission with God.

Finally, for the best possible outcome, share your areas of focus with the broader body, whether it is your parish apostolic coordinator or within Regnum Christi.  Regnum Christi will use this information to unite members with like passions to collaborate on ways to “Set the world ablaze with the love of Christ ''.

Enjoy the Journey!
