There are so many beautiful places for Catholics to worship. I enjoy visiting as many as I can on road trips to stay inspired during quarantine, but even before.  Each week I will post photos and thoughts about one of them.

St. Rose de Lima - Bay St Louis, Mississippi

This church and shrine to Blessed Francis Seelos is a beautiful way to spend the day.  There is a small museum on his life along with a gift shop. The tour starts with a short informative video. The church was special to me as my dad grew up in the Irish Channel and was an altar boy at St. Mary's.  I imagined him in the confessional as a young boy and they are still original today.  The church is beautiful! We were able to hold a Seelos cross with our Regnum Christi team and the entire day was special.  Allow time to linger.  You may also want to cross the street if it is open and  see the deconsecrated church of St. Alphonsus.  Make a donation to the friends of St. Alphonsus here. That location merits its' own feature soon! Historically St. Mary's served the German population and St. Alphonsus the Irish.  As dad was Irish and German he attended both!! Afterwards there is no place on earth better than New Orleans to have a nice lunch or early dinner.

Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine - Lacombe La.

This chapel is located in Lacombe on Fish Hatchery road.  My parents are buried at the cemetery just before this shrine to Our Lady.  It is open from sunrise to sunset and is a quiet and beautiful setting to sit and meditate. Want to know more?  Click Here
