God can be moved!

I read this today on a meditation from Father Bartunek - "God Can Be Moved." Meaning he can be swayed to change his mind.

The reference today was to today's Gospel (Matthew 15: 21-28) Jesus says "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." But the faith of the Canaanite woman moved him to answer her request and rid her daughter of demons.

The first reading today (Numbers 13:1-2, 25–14:1, 26A-29A, 34-35) also showed God being moved by Moses. Here we have a group of people in the Israelite's who have witnessed God's favor repeatedly, Passover, Exodus from Egypt, the parting of the Red Sea, manna from heaven, so many blessings yet they still wail and cry and complain. In this reading God still listens to Moses and spares the full wrath he originally intended.

Then there is Sodom and Gomorrah where Abraham asks God to spare the city as he counts down from 50, 45, 40, 30 all the way down to 10 righteous people should should be enough to spare the city. Unfortunately, there was not even 10. Genesis 18:16-33

The message I get from this meditation is this - When we approach God with love, faith and humility we see in these instances and so many others how God can be moved.
